Tuesday 13 June, 12 noon onwards

Join leading businesses and organisations from across York for a full day activities, including free talks and interactive sessions on a variety of topics.

A programme of free talks and discussions will run from 12 noon to 2pm, and Markus Lewe, Mayor of Munster, Germany will deliver the keynote address.

The Expo, open from 2pm to 5pm, brings together thirty organisations showcasing practical action towards a sustainable and resilient future. There will also be evening activities including a cycle ride.

The Public Protection Manager from the City of York Council will be speaking about air quality and collecting anti-idling pledges to be posted on the National Clean Air Day website. The City of York Council will be promoting I-Travel York (a local sustainable travel initiative) and collecting walk or cycle to work pledges to be posted on the National Clean Air Day website.

Colleagues from City of York Council, the University of York, and Amey Consultancy will be supporting the day in schools, car parks and on the streets.

Anti-Idling events across City of York Council coach parks

Thursday 15 June

City of York Council public protection staff and University staff will undertake anti-idling events to raise awareness in City of York Council coach parks.


National Clean Air Day at York NHS Trust

Thursday 15 June

York NHS Trust will organise an anti-idling event to raise awareness with in-house delivery staff. Anti-idling messages will be placed in pool cars.


National Clean Air Day at Fishergate Primary School

Thursday 15 June

Pupils of Fishergate Primary School will produce a banner for National Clean Air Day, and the City of York Council will have it printed in time for the 15th of June.


University of York workshop at Copmanthorpe Primary School

Thursday 15 June

Dr Ruth Ourvis from the National Centre for Atmospheric Sciences at the University of York will be visiting Copmanthorpe Primary School to lead an air quality workshop. The children will be finding out about what air is, how it moves, and how it becomes polluted. They will share their learning by writing an article for the school newsletter, and will be encouraged to make a clean air pledge.

Westfield Primary School will be arranging an event for National Clean Air Day supported by the Local Councillor.
