Cleaner Air in Leeds As a new mother, Mala always wants the best for her son, including giving him the opportunity to grow up in a city with clean air. Because children’s lungs are still developing, air pollution can have a bigger impact on their health than on adults’. During his lifetime, like all of us, Ariyan will breathe about two hundred and fifty million litres of air into his lungs. That’s ten thousand litres of air a day. We visit Kirkstall Valley Primary School, an asthma friendly school who have an asthma register and staff who are trained in caring for children during an asthma attack.
